Michelle (Micky) Welles is, for the most part, a self taught artist, although she credits her two favorite art teachers, Sr. Eileen and Sr. Claire Pelletier with giving her the basic fundamentals of design, that are used every time she picks up a pencil or pen.

She started her art career working as a technical illustrator for an environmental consulting firm. After the company relocated across the state, she worked in banking and as an administrative assistant. She started pursuing her art career full time in 2010.

At this time, pen and ink drawings and watercolors, especially pet portraits and house portraits are in big demand. Although she has been known to create a few abstract pieces, Micky is primarily a representational artist. Oil paint is her favorite medium, but she also works in pastel, acrylic, watercolor and pen and ink. She loves photography just for fun.

She has exhibited in several solos shows, in group shows at gallery128 in New York City, Lyme Art Association, Arts of Tolland juried shows, The Slater Museum Annual Juried Shows, Windham Regional Arts Council member shows and groups shows (four per year), Manchester Art Association group shows, Glastonbury Arts member shows and Tolland County Arts member shows.

Michelle Welles joined Fine Art America on November 5th, 2011.
